Riders on the Storm

I so wish that I carry a small digital notepad wherever I go so that I can scribble something. Probably I would do that now as I have a qwerty mobile handset. Thanks to office for that. And for the tata photon and this laptop I am working on. But then that also meant I just got done with my work for the day on a Sunday evening. There's nothing called free lunch after all...

Indeed.. done with work. What's next.

Anyways, there's tonnes to write about Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai, and what not but then time it seems has just learnt finance and keeps reminding me of opportunity costs. As I sit alone in this well furnished room of mine with all comforts, far away from the mediocre hostel room I stayed at for two years or a room shared by countless friends and a bed on the floor in bangalore, I am bound to look back at everything and how changed a man I am.

I am done with work, called my boss and updated him on status, sent the excel file. I must say I enjoy this work. And I step out of my bed, I walk towards the refrigerator and look inside. Couple of bottles of water, an unopened butter packet, two sachets of tomato sauce from McDs, and two bottles of carlsberg.

When old friends meet they uncover stories, some real, some gossips, some of their own, some of others. They talk about how last 6-10 years have been. Someone is still the same. Someone else is getting married, someone fell in love and is planning to runaway, someone else just broke his heart. And today I just laughed out loud between one such conversation with Anurag. For no reasons, its just that I couldn't hold myself back. These stories have been killed to death by us yet we never get tired of them. People still fall in love and get hurt. Don't blame me for laughing, we have given me no other choice.

Will I make it or not? Yes i would.... Yes I did it. I can still open beer bottles with my tooth. Wheres my i-pod. Let me play a song as I drink...

. .but I continue learning... i never meant... God I am jumping... Let me close my eyes... I hope I am not screaming...

The screens, open skies, flames, colorful lights, circles, guitars, chairs and tables, quad... and the songs remain the same...

Life in gurgaon is different. I promised it to be different. No regular pubbing, no wet parties, no staying with 3-4 friends. I am past that age. The age of nihilism to hard rock to endless booze to pubbing to late night parties to old monks. Those moments are behind me. Precious, but I am done with it all. This new life is what I have going forward and its good. I am planning to buy a car. My parents are all desperate to get me married and I am not against the idea either. The work demands travel and I am ready for it. Gurgaon has its downsides but is overall not bad.

Open your eyes stupid... what are you doing, this is no quad party or pub.... Damn... there you go in the garbage bin Mr. empty bottle and here you go back in the switched off mode Mr. i-pod. Oh is that boss calling...?

Overall, this new life feels good..

P.S. : The title means nothing... Just that I was listening to this song a while ago.
