Getting Adjusted
Sorry for the spelling mistake in the title... these days I just write the post at once without reviewing them again.
Ok please consider that I have a huge camera and its not possible for me to carry it to IE everyday. If I do that people would imagine that its my last day on campus or people on the streets would think that I am from South-East Asia (no offense meant at those sweet people but I do find it weird when I see all of them smiling at each of the tonnes of photos they take at each of zillions of places they visit).
Anyways.... Days have become much smoother and better. Our International Marketing prof. told us that Spain is the largest exporter of wines. Also we were short of groceries and everything so we visited Carrafour this weekend. Well, Carrafour is huge. And the neon light on the top is visible from our metro station (Colonia Jardin). However it wasn't a small walk up to the superstore and we realized it more when we came back from there, both of us felt like those ponies of old times holding so many packets. We could have taken taxi but sacrificing a cozy taxi trip also meant we could buy 10 bottles of wine or one night stay in Lisbon for one person... This was a fair tradeoff...
Anyways... We walked across whole of Carrafour for four hours buys loads of stuff to eat and drink... Wines, beer, pizzas, calzones, breads, muffins, milk, juice blah blah and blah... All that loads of stuff and two of us to carry... Huh... Anyways, on our way to Carrafour we also spotted a metro coming out of the tunnel and crossing the road over a bridge and it looked awesome... Blame my camera by the time I could have taken it out of bag, camera bag, switched on, adjusted zoom etc etc... the train was gone... But it did remind me of Autobahn track in "NFS Porsche 2000" I used to play in college.
In the evening, we thought to walk around downtown and some places, we missed the free entry in a few of museums but we would sure do it some other weekend. We got down at Principe Pio station which is I must say huge... (Madrid metro is worth appreciating) And outside we spotted the Castle... The entry is allowed only in the morning so we didn't walk up to the gate. We clicked few photos, took a plug converter for my laptop (to plug into european sockets) only to break it down the same night over a glass of red wine... But thats another story.
We learnt to microwave khichdi... And we enjoy it with the pickles I brought from India.
Need to rush to class right now... Leading in turbulent times... We have two presentations lined up for friday... and thats the sad part of coming to a serious school for exchange, however I must say I am enjoying a few courses here... And the people... One presentation with 2 other folks from South America (nice people again) and another with a mix of people from China, HK and Europe. Btw... what is this with ISB, everyone seems to be knowing it quite well... FT rankings do help and perhaps IIMs should realize that international branding can help them in some way.
Plans are in process for South Spain, Barcelona and Portugal trip... Its not so easy to materialize plans with little knowledge and absence of internet at room. Anyways...
