Country House at Spain
I know I promised about posting pics of babes and what not around Madrid… well, adjusting to a new place is not an easy task, you learn new lifestyle, new food, new school, new people, new language, toilet papers…. Well let me remain less graphic here about that… Instead, I will keep my promise of posting some pics… However, as I am yet to venture out, I thought maybe I should write about the place where I am staying… Here’s my room… To make it more experiential, I added some comments (I am learning a bit of marketing now…).
Here’s a glimpse of the surroundings… this seems to be a highway… A lady gave me a strange stare out of her car window when I was clicking this…
And here’s the Country Bar of the owners of our place, Felix and Blanca (not sure of spelling but in all probability you would have pronounced it right).
It’s a small peaceful place in the suburbs of crowded city of Madrid, a perfect place to return to from a long day. These folks are just too good. They don’t know a single word of English but keep talking to us. We also keep nodding and saying “Si” at every pause and Gracias or Adios in the end. Hola is how we start the conversation and that’s it… I know no more. Although we are learning now that we downloaded and printed a Spanish survival guide. Blanca cooks us dinner for 3 euros. What for dinner? Wait for it…. They cook us daal chawal, sabzi and roti….
Shut up… Even if we show them how to cook roti, tens of them would surround it in awe wondering whether it’s really meant to eat. Anyways we have found a substitute for everything in our usual meal…
Chawal by Arroz (which is nothing but rice only :P)
Roti by wheat bread
Daal by some local variety of moong ki daal
Sabzi by some local preparation (not sure what they call it… but till now we got treated by tasty boiled mushroom in vinegar, tomato-cucumber salad and one awesome preparation which closely resembled besan ki sabzi from apna bihar… in all it’s a pleasant surprise everyday)
All this, just for 3 euros…. Thanks to Blanca and her awesome country bar… :) But now that we have microwave, we will also do our own cooking.
I must say I am enjoying this western rustic experience while enjoying the vibes of Madrid…. Near IE there’s a food joint called Jronas (pronounced chronas) and a beautiful lady at the counter throws a smile everytime we walk it and order for one and only Ensalada… (which literally means salad). 4.8 euros for one meal… not too cheap so we just go there for change of taste. I ate from an assortment of ingredients I don’t know what all…. I have eaten an unfamiliar meat which was either pork or beef but I don’t want to ask now. Ensalada tastes really good.
Anyways, its Saturday today and we plan to go to Carrafour… It’s a big superstore out here and we plan to buy some chocolates and Spanish wine from there… keshari has already had a dream last night about buying 150 euros worth of chocolates… We don’t plan to do anything like that anyways.
We will also visit some Museum today or tomorrow, yet to figure out which one… Will post pics then…
And ya, we have finalized our Barcelona/Portugal trip for next to next weekend… Lets see how it goes…

Nice narrative. Your blogs open a window with wide view. Keep them coming I say!
The room looks funny, but then...:)
The food sounds funnier, but somehow more promising than our regular mess food :)
& shop for chocolates and wine, but save enough to bring some back. :P
