Prelude
Life has changed. Things have changed. I was so happy last week for I had no split second to sit and think of something. I spent days and nights running around doing assignments and attending classes. A 2hour/day sleep spread over a week is all I had for myself. And it was fun. And then to compensate for it all, we had the freshers party with JBS playing all kinds of songs and totally winning the hearts of all the people. I cheered them from the front with the highest level of enthusiasm I could have had. I loved their music. They indeed made my day.Study life after 4 years of work isn't so easy to adapt to. The first thing that pinches is discipline. Why wake up at 7:45 in the morning for classes. Why complete assignments and why prepare for cases. This is precisely how it started.
It took me less than a day to get over this feeling. A walk from NH to L3 all around the serene lake and empty jetty stopped making me think that I should hang out at the jetty instead. The discipline had got into me. Or maybe it had come out of hibernation from within. Theres not been a single lecture Ive wanted to miss. For the first time in my life I am finding all my subjects interesting. Well there are other things also which are happening for the first time. For the first time am I among the elder folks in class.
Anyways, first week of life at IIM Calcutta has been an experience worth keeping deep inside the mind and worth cherishing everytime I open up and go through it again. IIM Calcutta is about people and campus. Well I guess so is any other school. But I am not out here to compare. Coz its useless and stupid. IIM Calcutta is a treasure. Worth exploring. And the more one explores, more does he find out. It unfolds itself slowly slowly. Its a joyride. All one needs to do is to keep his eyes open and swim with the tide. No wonders people associate the phrase best daze of my life with stay at IIM Calcutta.
When I was in college, I had developed this feeling that campus life has a distinctive feature. You can choose to stay sad, grave, happy or partying no matter you've been through. The only thing it is about is choice.
I chose to stay grave today. I just chose to stay so. But that doesn't demean any of the things I just said. I wanted to take a snap of a swan in the grasses I saw from the window of my room today. But before I could click my camera, it saw me and flew away. I wanted to paste the photo here. Best would have been the moment it just initiated the flight. Its probably the single most important moment in whole event. Beginning to fly away from things not appropriate to stay with.
beginning to fly... Labels: IIM-C, Life
