Creative Writing Workshop
I recently attended the creative writing workshop organized by Intaglio, IIM Calcutta in association with British Council. The workshop was conducted by Rimi B Chatterjee. More on her @wikipedia. And what an experience it was. I didn't know about her when I heard about this workshop. The only thing I knew was the conviction that I need to attend this workshop. Missed the deadline for applying, but was accepted as a participant. Woke up late in the morning but thanks to Soham I finally attended the workshop. And I can't thank him more for waking me up. The workshop was a fun filled literary journey of 6 hours. And now I wonder why don't we have courses on Creative Writing here.I had submitted my story Dry Happy Eyes which was also featured as story of the week on NDTV Writing Room. And I felt elated when she liked my story and gave me an encouraging feedback. She gave me more inputs which definitely are going to help on my writings. Soham and I have decided to do more of the Plot and Mood exercise she gave us. We will give each other a plot and a mood to write on and then review each other's work. I got some more fame here when one of the seniors asked me to review his cover letter after reading my work in the workshop.
Next stop for me is going to be Oxford Bookstore to grab a copy of The City of Love by her. I found the plot interesting. Also it will be interesting to read a book by an author who taught me how to write. Although I don't really buy her idea that Literature should be written in tough English. She says that good things shouldn't be easy to get and I disagree with her on this. Although I do appreciate tough writings, I believe if you can create magic with simplicity then its the true gem.
Anyways, opinions do vary. However one thing remains. She really rocks. Labels: Creative Writing, IIM-C

i like to write simple as well
like some software engineers say "it was tough to write. so it should be tough to understand as well".
Just trying to be the devil's advocate here :d
