Bangalore
It is my last week of stay at Bangalore and I have countless thoughts about this place.Call it pub city, garden city, city of lakes, IT city or the latest one City of Traffic Jams. Bangalore has too much to offer if you are coming to stay over here even if just for a while. Loads of good things and some bad things too.
This is the place where I have spent four defining years of my life. The time that helped me build a character in me. Its a place where I've spent some of the best moments of my life. Cafe Coffee Day Indiranagar, Amoeba (Leela and Church Street), Purple Haze Koramangala, Just Another Pub, NGV morning jogs, Aero Fitness Club Koramangala, Weekend getaways, MG/Brigade Road, Forum, PVR, Garuda Mall etc etc. A mere mention of these places ring a bell in my mind and transport me to a different time and place. My dictionary of kannada (two words.... kannada and gothilla) has been so useful for these 4 years. The countless disputes with annoying Auto Wallas of bangalore now seem to be amusing to me.
The time I've spent with some of my best friends has been priceless. The different anthems we had figured out for our place.... starting with 'november rain' and then 'boulevard of broken dreams', 'maine dil se kaha', 'iris' etc etc. used to play countless times in our computers in highest possible sound to make everyone in the surrounding aware of it.
One thing I learnt to do here is partying. And its going to stay with me forever. Bangalore is one lively place which leaves you scope of enjoyment with gf/friends when in happiness and even when in sorrow.
The concerts have been so abundant here. Though I went for very few, if you have a favourite band which is still active, it is going to visit this place once. Just wait.
And the best part is the original bangalore. The essence of the authentic Malgudi (malleshwaram, baswangudi) area. Lots of trees around the roads, houses, not so crowded buses, good authentic south indian food. You'd sure wish you knew kannada when you are in such localities.
Traffic is an issue here but I am sure with so many government initiatives it will improve. Though I can still say that even now Bangalore is one most easily accessible big city.
Weather is for you to experience. Let me not comment on it. Even if you hate every other thing I have stated here, you'd fall in love with this place because of the weather.
Yes bangalore is called IT City. I won't give you glimpse of IT parks or Infy Campus(it is breath taking), but I'd talk of the government offices. Its so easy to pay Electricity bill/ Water bill through the 24 hour computer kiosks (it maybe notable for me coz I hail from bihar, but I did find it amazing). And people here are really good. RTO office will process any of your requests without much of hassles. I am scared of police and police stations because of the way they talk. But I did find good policemen here who helped me without looking at my pocket.
Overall, Bangalore has been very welcoming for me. I know I am not talking of how anti-social elements reacted against north indians when Rajkumar died or riots took place in shivaji nagar area. But even then, things do return back to normalcy within no time and the Police administration takes every possible measure to bring things back to normal. And before I start comparing it with state in Mumbai, let me get out of this issue.
Its a nice and welcoming place if you want to like it.
And I loved bangalore. Am sure going to miss it. Labels: Bangalore, Places
